If you were as shrewd as they say, you would know that nothing is less stable and more violent than the idiots who believe that God exists, that he loves them, and is going to redistribute the playing cards of life for them… » Housmane Daoud to Isham Amadi The project’s gang leader Housmane Daoud is the perfect gang leader: a 6 foot 2 inch black "monster" weighing 220 pounds. A true heavyweight of evil. Calm and intelligent, he’s a cold blooded animal, cool under every circumstance. For more than twenty years the cops of the Anti-Crime Unit, who know who is behind all of the drug trafficking, have been trying to catch him…in vain. Housmane Daoud isn’t the drug supplier for just The Commune but for the whole region. He’s understood the laws of the street since he was fifteen, when he began wandering the streets in the company of Mohamed Oufkir and Isham Amadi. When his two friends took a fall (one in the clink and the other in the cemetery), Daoud found himself alone against the gang leaders of surrounding neighborhoods who wanted to take control of The Commune. In the company of his three cousins, fresh off the boat from Mali, he cleared his territory. Since then he reigns as lord and master. Housmane Daoud is a wise businessman. He feels strongly that by ordering the demolition of the project, the mayor has found a ruse to drain his field of illicit activities. And the highly publicized return of his childhood friend doesn’t exactly appeal to him. Daoud knows that Amadi’s charisma will project a light into the ghetto that leaves no shadowy corners. And that, as well, is problematic for his business!
